To provide a container for using a tape containing a diagnostic reagent, and to provide a method for using the container.

The container has a rotatable lid for reading and handling the diagnostic reagent in a tape form including a body section, a lid section, a continuous tape, a reagent detector, and a storing device. The body section includes inner and outer surfaces. The lid section is mounted to the body section, and is adapted so that it can be rotated from the closed position to the open position. The continuous tape includes the diagnostic reagent. The reagent detector is mounted to either the body section or the lid section, and is adapted so that it reads the diagnostic reagent. The storing device is mounted to the body section, retains the non-used section of the continuous tape, and is adapted for a little at a time. While the lid section is turned, the continuous tape is sent out of the first storage device, and is extended over the reagent detector.
