Abstract:
The apparatus comprises a stationary body with an opening through which cups (40, 41, 42) can pass. Two cup-support arms (50) are mounted pivotably about vertical axes on the body and on each side of the opening. Two pairs of cup-separating arms (10, 20) are also mounted pivotably about vertical axes above the cup-support arms and on either side of the openings. A control member is mounted on the body for the sliding movement between the first position and the second position. It carries cam means (30) for tilting the support arms (50) and the separating arms (10, 20) about their vertical pivoting axes when the control member is displaced. In the first position, the cup-support arms (50) hold the cups under the rim of the bottom cup and the cup-separating arms (10, 20) are located away from the stack of cups. When the control member assumes the second position, the pairs of cup-separating arms are displaced in order to engage under the rim of the cup located just above the bottom cup and then the support arms move away from the stack of cups. Finally, a projection engages (70) between the arms of each pair of separating arms (10, 20) in order to force them to separate vertically and thus to force the lowermost cup to detach from the stack by means of a lever movement.
