To provide a container ship for increasing a container carrying capacity in a main hull and on an upper deck and to improve the optimum riding comfort.
The container ship 1 having an engine room 8 with a main engine 9 on the stern side in the main hull 2 includes a living quarter 3 arranged on the main hull 2 on the stem side from the engine room 8, a container hold 18 formed in the main hull 2 immediately under the living quarter 3, a container loading/unloading passage formed in the living quarter 3 immediately above the container hold 18 immediately under the living quarter, and a container crane device arranged in the container loading/unloading passage. In this structure, the number of containers to be loaded is increased, and the center of gravity is moved downward in a container-loaded condition, thereby improving restoration performance.
