Title:
CONTAINER FOR STORING HIGH PURITY ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3737876
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease in the purity of high purity isopropyl alcohol(IPA) even when it is stored for a long time in a metal container by forming a high purity nickel layer to constitute at least the inner face of the metal container and subjecting at least the surface layer part having a specified thickness of the nickel layer to oxidation treatment.
SOLUTION: The inner face of a metal container having excellent strength such as stainless steel, iron and copper is preferably subjected to electrolytic polishing, and then subjected to strike nickel plating and to electrolytic or electroless nickel plating to form a nickel layer having good adhesion property. This nickel layer is formed in 0.5 to 50 μm thickness, and the purity of the nickel which constitutes the layer is preferably ≥99 wt.%, especially ≥99.5 wt.%. Then the surface layer part of the nickel layer is oxidized by thermal oxidation, anodic oxidation or the like. The surface layer subjected to oxidation has preferably 50 to 400&angst thickness, especially about 100 to 300 &angst thickness. Thereby, the total metal elution amt. in high purity IPA stored in this container is kept in about ≤10 pg/ml even for long-term storage.
