Title:
ELECTRODELESS HIGH-PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3196649
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless high-pressure discharge lamp which does not contain mercury as a filler and uses as filler a light emitting material having both a high efficiency and high rendering property, by actively utilizing the continuous spectrum of molecular light emission at high pressure of metal halides of indium and gallium which emit continuous spectrum due to molecular light emission.
SOLUTION: An electrodeless high-pressure discharge lamp concerned has a light transmitting bulb 21 which does not have any electrode exposed to the inside, and metal compounds to show continuous spectrum due to molecular light emission such as indium halide and gallium halide or mixture thereof are together with rare gas(s) encapsulated as filler 22 in the light transmitting bulb 21, wherein the arrangement further includes a discharge exciting means which impresses an electric energy on the filler 22 to start arc discharge and maintain it.
