To provide a container terminal which can efficiently perform a cargo handling operation without stopping a flow of a container at a time of cargo handling operation.

A container terminal 1 comprises at least one gantry crane 3 which loads/unloads a container P between an apron 2a and a container ship S, a stock yard 4 which is disposed near a place in which the gantry crane 3 loads/unloads the container P and temporarily stores the container P, and a truck terminal 5 disposed opposite to a side in which the gantry crane 3 of the stock yard 4 is disposed. The stock yard 4 is divided into a plurality of columns and an overhead traveling crane 8 is disposed to each of the columns. The container P is moved using a plurality of container carriers 7, 10 between the stock yard 4 and the gantry crane 3 and between the stock yard 4 and the truck terminal 5.
