Abstract:

To provide contaminant eliminating system for exhaust gas from a spark ignition type internal combustion engine to be operated and started earlier than known various kinds of systems.

This method is constituted to include at least a first gas treatment means 4 like a three-way catalyst which is provided on an exhaust gas line 2. In this case, the method is further made to include a second inhibitor of a catalyst chemical reaction performed by the first means 4 which is arranged in the upstream of the first means 4 in a gas flowing direction in the exhaust gas line 2, more particularly, a means 3 for eliminating acetylene.
