Abstract:
To solve the problems in which: in the purification of polluted water such as eutrophic lakes, biological methods are generally used to remove phosphate and nitrate ions; but stable treatment is difficult and there is also difficulty in treating organic matter such as sludge and plants produced from nitrogen and phosphorus; in addition, reaction rates of biological phosphorus accumulation and denitrification are low; on the other hand, a method which applies electrolysis is proposed, but the cost of electricity used for electrolysis and the catalysts used are expensive and cause a huge cost problem.SOLUTION: A method for purifying polluted water includes: a phosphate ion removing and recovering step which causes power generation with the polluted water as electrolytic water in a battery tank including a battery with iron as the anode and carbon as the cathode and precipitates phosphate ions as iron phosphate; a hydrogen generating step which electrolyzes the polluted water in an electrolytic tank to generate hydrogen; and a nitrate ion removing step which reduces and removes nitrate ions with the generated hydrogen. There is also provided a device for performing the above steps.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
