To provide a contamination prevention apparatus constructible at a low cost and capable of suppressing environmental pollution.
This contamination prevention apparatus 10 comprises a contamination prevention plate (cathode body) 11 formed of an alkali insoluble conductive material such as a galvanized steel plate and a tinned steel plate covering the wall surface 101 of an inlet channel 100 in contact with seawater 1, an anode body 15 formed of a conductive material in contact with the contamination prevention plate 11 through seawater 1, and a DC power supply device 17 applying a voltage installed between the contamination prevention plate 11 and the anode body 15. Seawater 1 is electrolyzed between the contamination prevention plate 11 and the anode body 15 to generate hydroxy ion (OH-) from the entire surface of the contamination prevention plate 11 so as to produce an alkalic environment (pH of approx. 10) around the contamination prevention plate 11. Thus marine organisms such as algae can be prevented from being adhered to the contamination prevention plate 11.
