Abstract:

To reproduce licensed content not only by the content reproducing apparatus of a download destination but also an arbitrary content reproducing apparatus.

A user connects a permission information storing apparatus 2 to a content reproducing apparatus 1 for reproducing the content. The apparatus 1 transmits the identification information of digital content for which the user has instructed reproduction, to the apparatus 2 to inquire about the license information. The apparatus 2 reads the license information corresponding to the identification information of the received digital content from the permission information storage means equipped on its own apparatus and returns the license information. The apparatus 1 verifies the received license information, and if the verification is successfully performed, the apparatus 1 resumes the digital content.
