To provide a contents transmitting device for sending contents, without interrupting the reproduction of the contents at the receiving side, even if the transmission quality of a transmission line deteriorates or a temporary line breakdown occurs.
The contents transmitting device 3 comprises means 33, 34 for coding contents into coded contents different in bit rate, a means 40 for storing the coded contents, a means 373 for setting the unit data quantity being a unit of data to be sent at once and the transmission timing of the data transmitted by the unit data quantity for each of the individual coded contents based on the bit rate, and a means 38 for transmitting the transmission data via a network 5 at the transmission timing set by the transmission setting means 373.
