To provide a contents user authentication system and authentication method for preventing the use of contents by an unauthorized user by safely receiving the contents without leaking the personal information of a legitimate user.
The contents user authentication method contains: Step 1 in which an authentication organization prepares a group common key and distributes it; Step 2 in which the user receives authentication from the authentication organization by using the group-common key; Step 3 in which the personal information of the user who has received the authentication of the authentication organization and a temporary registration certificate issued to the authenticated user are stored in the authentication organization; Step 4 in which the user converts the temporary registration certificate issued by the authentication organization by means of a specified conversion method and by using user's own secret key to provide the converted temporary registration certificate to a contents provider; and Step 5 in which the contents provider confirms the authentication by the authentication organization addressed to the user to whom the converted temporary registration certificate is provided by using the group-common key and provides the contents by referring to a confirmation result.
