Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for modulating transmission of power between a motor and a driven device.SOLUTION: With respect to a front end auxiliary machine drive portion (FEAD), a sub-assembly and their components, a power modulation device (PMD) capable of being used in FEAD is included. A driving system 50 may include at least one motor 4 connected to the PMD 2 through a first joint 6. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is directly connected to a crank shaft of the motor, and the CVT is used to adjust a speed and/or torque reaching an auxiliary machine. A composite driving device includes a motor/generator sub-assembly co-operating with the CVT sub-assembly to provide a function of a motor to multiply or divide torque, or a function of a generator to multiply or divide the torque.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
