PURPOSE: To enable continuous casting of grid bodies having good characteristic by supplying molten metal into mating molds slidingly moved to fixed plates from a supplying hole at one side of the fixed plates and discharging the excess molten metal from discharging hole at the other side of the fixed plates.
CONSTITUTION: The belt-like fixed plates 8, 8' arranged at right and left sides of the mating molds 1, 3, are heated at 400-450°C. with heaters 20, 21, 20', 21' built in the fixed plates. In this condition, the annular molds are worked and when temp. of the molds 1, 3 reaches to about 150°C, machine oil as mold release agent coats surface of the mold. Then, at the time of feeding out the molten metal preheated at 450-500°C by working a lead pump, flow of the molten metal fills up the grid body sculptured grooves 10, 10' in the mating molds 1, 3 through a supplying hole 9 and returns back to a molten metal vessel through a discharging hole 9'. In this result, the grid having good voltage characteristic is obtd. The manufactured continuous grids are cut after filling up the lead battery paste to make pole plates.
