PURPOSE: To supply molten metal to a mold without oxidation in a belt type continuous casting device having a conventional overflow type charging means and a belt type continuous casting means by providing an enclosure made of refractories for a molten metal well between the charging means and continuous casting means.
CONSTITUTION: An enclosure 39 made of refractories for a molten metal well is provided between an overflow type charging means 6 and a belt type continuous casting means having a mold formed of endless conveyor belts 21, 23 provided in two stages, upper and lower, in contact or proximity with the top side surface 47 of the belt of the conveyor 23. Further, a cover 53 for substituting the atmosphere around the charging port 11 and the enclosure 9 with an inert atmosphere with an inert gas from a pipe 55 is provided. Thus the molten metal 7 flowing from the means 6 through a skimmer 12 then through the port 11 and into the enclosure 39 and further into the mold is not oxidized and the ingot contg. extremely few non-metallic inclusions is obtained.
