Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06238399
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce blow holes in a cast bar while improving the productivity and to improve the economicity and also the quality of a roughly drawn wire by pouring molten metal while guiding it so as to be poured by prescribed distance into the molten metal in a casting space from a tundish.

CONSTITUTION: In the molten metal pouring part in the casting space 18, a separate plate 11 whose tip part is set at a prescribed distance δ from a driving roll 2b is positioned in the molten metal 7 in the casting space 18. The tip part of the separate plate 11 is dipped into the molten metal in the casting space 18 by a prescribed distance (1) from the molten metal 7 surface. As the molten metal is poured by using the separate plate 11 as the molten metal pouring guide member, the collision between the poured molten metal 3 and the molten metal 7 in the casting space is eliminated, and even if the molten metal is poured at high speed, the involving of the air into the molten metal 7 can be prevented. Therefore, the development of bubbles 4 in the molten metal 7 can be prevented and the blow holes in the cast bar are reduced and the quality of the roughly drawn wire can be improved.
