PURPOSE: To weld the entire surface of clad steels to uniform quality and to improve the yield of products in continuous casting of the clad steel in which a molten steel is supplied, welded and quickly cooled onto the top surface of steel strips or between a pair of the steel strips by preheating both side ends of the steel strips to a relatively high specific temp. then supplying the steel strips.
CONSTITUTION: The clad steels 10, 10 are produced by supplying the molten steel 5 onto the surface of the cladding steel strips 6 or a pair of the steel strips 6, 6' moving continuously, welding the molten metal thereto and cooling quickly 15 the molten steel from the outside surface of the strips 6, 6'. The surfaces of the strips 6, 6' are preheated in heating furnaces 12, 12' within the temp. range of ≥300°C and lower by 200°C than the solidus line temp. of the steel strips. The two side ends of the strips 6, 6' are further heated to the temp. slightly higher relatively than the central part. The welding is satisfactorily executed and the early cooling at both ends is prevented. The entire surface is thus cooled to the side ends with good quality and the product yield is improved.
