PURPOSE: To keep constant the molten metal surface level near a long nozzle and prevent the contamination of the molten metal in mold due to the slug or molten metal surface by parting the molten metal in tundish with a partition wall having through opening hole, enclosing a part of the molten metal surface and evacuating/pressurizing the enclosed chamber.
CONSTITUTION: The chamber 11, in which a part of molten metal surface in a tundish 3 is enclosed by dividing the molten metal in tundish on surface with a partition wall 10 having a through hole in molten metal and a lid, is provided. When molten metal filling of first ladle is completed at ladle changing, the atmosphere 9 in the enclosed chamber 11 is gradually pressurized, maintaining the molten metal level in tundish 3 near a long nozzle 2. By this method, the inclusion of slug, non-metal inclusion, entrapment of surrounding atmosphere 9 is prevented due to a wide change of molten metal filling speed from the long nozzle 2, also, the entrapment of the molten metal surface mold powder in mold due to a change of molten metal surface level right above a immersed nozzle is prevented.
