Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD OF SHEET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55109549
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make possible the large-volume production of the good-quality sheets of thicknesses about 3W20mm of much demand by making a pair of cooling rolls by copper and forming a pool by their top surfaces and a pair of side sealing members in the captioned method of pouring molten metal in the molten steel pool between a pair of cooling rolls.

CONSTITUTION: The spacing between a pair of copper-made water-cooled rolls 1, 1 is adjusted according to the thickness of the slab to be produced and the molten steel 3 in a tundish 2 is poured up to the specified position of the molten metal level of the molten steel pool 4. Next, when the rolls 1, 1 are revolved in the specified (arrow) direction and in the specified velocity and pouring is continued, the molten steel in the pool 4 is quenched by making contact with the roll surfaces, thereby forming the solidified shells 6, 6 of chilled crystals. These are rolled by the rolls and become a slab 7 which is then continuously drawn. The pool 4 is formed by the top part surfaces mutually opposing along the roll axial direction and a pair of side part sealing members 5, 5 which are equipped by having a slight clearance from their top surfaces on the end parts on both sides of said top surfaces.
