Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD OF STAINLESS STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3484605
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture stainless steel slabs with superior quality reducing occurrence of lateral crack and internal crack as far as possible, which often occurs when stainless steel containing C of 0.1 to 1.0 mass % and Cr of 11 to 14 mass % is continuously cast.
SOLUTION: This method is applied to continuous casting of stainless steel containing C of 0.1 to 1.0 mass %, and Cr of 11 to 14 mass % through either a curved type continuous caster or a vertical bending type continuous caster. The method requires content of P in the stainless steel limited to 0.025 mass % at the maximum and completion of solidification in the range between a section underneath a mold and a straightening section. Also it is a necessity to cast keeping a slab surface temperature higher than 750°C in the straightening section.
