To provide a slab less in surface cracks by suppress the ununiformity of cooling in a mold due to zirconia particles separated from an immersion nozzle caused by the erosion of a zirconia-graphite refractory constructing a slag line part.
When a steel is continuously cast while adding mold powder into a mold using an immersion nozzle 4 having a slag line part 4b of a zirconia-graphite refractory, the continuous casting is performed using the immersion nozzle in which the maximum particle diameter of the zirconia raw material in the zirconia-graphite refractory lies in the range in inequality (1) to a casting velocity for a slab in a regular region: D700-200Vc (1); wherein, D is the maximum particle diameter (m) of the zirconia raw material, and Vc is the casting velocity (m/min) in a regular region.
