Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method of high-carbon/high-manganese steel blooms and billets which are free from the occurrence of breakout, and also there is no blow hole defect in the strand surface.
SOLUTION: Using mold powder of which viscosity in 1300°C is 2-10 poise and CaO/SiO2of 1.3-1.6 in weight the blooms or billets of which C content is 0.2-0.8 wt.% and Mn content is 1.0-2.0 weight % are continuously cast on condition that the vibration stroke of a mold is 3-5 mm.
