Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a panoramic image connecting plural images by extracting at least three characteristic points located at each side of a monitor from an image signal and displaying a line connecting the characteristic points in each side on the monitor.
SOLUTION: When a 2nd image is shifted to the upper right from a 1st image, characteristic points X2 and X3 extracted at an upper side are detected in an image signal of the 1st image, and also a new characteristic point X7 is extracted on a line extended from a line segment LX1 which connects the points X2 and X3. At the same time, characteristic points Y5 and Y6 extracted at a right side are detected from a signal of the 1st image, and a new characteristic point Y7 is extracted on a line extended from a line segment LY2 connecting the points Y5 and Y6. When the image is shifted to the lower right, new characteristic points X8 and Y8 are extracted. In this way, if the number characteristic points detected in each side is less than on equal to 2, a characteristic point is newly extracted and three or more characteristic points are always secured in each side.
