To provide a method and an apparatus which improves an aluminum recovering ratio by compressing and separating the fluidized component of metallic aluminum in the molten state contained in aluminum dross produced in a treating furnace and scraped out therefrom and mixed air in the dross and also yields high quality aluminum dross by limiting oxidized consumption.
The dross 4 is charged into a dross container 10 with a slit member 2 and a dross receiving mold 3 attachably/detachably arranged to its metal receiving part 1. After conveying the dross container 10, the container is transferred to a pushing plate inserting position, compressing position, clean- cooling position, position of removing the compressed dross from the mold, dross cake discharging position and dross receiving mold laying position in this order, and an operational device arranged at each position executes each operation.
