The continuous unloader 1 which is provided at the end of a rising/falling bottom 4, having an expansible scraping part 13 at the lower end and a bucket conveyor 5 having a vertical portion 12 for elevating up and down the scraping part 13 in response to the expansion of the scraping part 13 and a bucket chain 14 wound over the scraping part 13 and the vertical portion 12, so that the scraping part 13 is moved up and down with the up-and- down movement of a hull during bottom clean-out operation in a hold 27, followed by expansible operation, comprises critical elongation detecting means 29 for detecting that the scraping part 13 is elongated nearly to a set maximum elongation length during the bottom clean-on operation and retreat means 30 for rotating the bottom 4 upward when the scraping part 13 is elongated nearly to the critical elongation length by the critical elongation detecting means 29.
