A continuous variable ratio transmission belt 1 has a belt-like continuous element 2 provided with a body 5 formed of an elastic material, a sequentially formed internal tooth 6 and external tooth 7, and a number of strap-like elongated insert members 8 embedded in the body 5. A number of friction blocks 3 formed of plastic material are integrally formed on the continuous element 2, each friction element unites one of teeth 10 of the internal tooth 6 and one of teeth 12 of the external tooth 7, and each friction element has two side surfaces 4 converged inside the belt 1 and cooperates with the corresponding side of a groove of a pulley having a trapezoidal groove.
