To reduce energy deposited during operation of an internal combustion engine by a front end auxiliary machine drive of the internal combustion engine.
The present invention includes power modulators 2A to 2C(PMD) that can be used at a front end auxiliary machine drive part (FEAD). A continuous variable transmission (CVT) is directly connected to a crank shaft of an engine 4 and CVT is used for adjusting a speed and/or torque transmitted to an auxiliary machine. A compound drive device includes a motor/power generator sub-assembly cooperating with CVT sub-assembly in order to provide a function of motor having multiplication or division of torque or to provide a function of power generator having multiplication or division of torque. The FEAD has a sun-shaft that is constituted to be connected to sun gears of the PMDs and component parts of an electric motor such as an armature or a field magnet. The armature and the field magnet are arranged concentrically and coaxially and rotated in an opposite direction to each other.
