A slippery lining 3 is supported on a press plate through a support and a web is placed on the slippery lining 3 interposing a press belt 4. The slippery lining 3 has a main region at the center and at least a pair of symmetrically arranged peripheral strip regions 13 around the main region. A transition region 14', 14" free from grooves or having a dummy groove 16 which does not participate in the supply and discharge of lubricant may be formed between the main region 12 and the peripheral strip region 13 or between adjacent peripheral regions.
