To provide a continuously variable transmission for a bicycle improving the controllability of the bicycle, hardly contacting the ground surface and reducible in cost.
This continuously variable transmission T for the bicycle is provided with a variable speed mechanism having a plurality of link units for converting the rotation of an input shaft rotationally driven by a pedal type crankshaft 12, into swinging motion, and a one-way clutch for converting the swinging motion into the rotation of an output shaft 16. A drive link of the link unit is pivotally supported to an eccentric ring rotated integrally with the input shaft. The continuously variable transmission T is arranged between a front wheel WF and a rear wheel WR of the bicycle B in a longitudinal direction and above an imaginary plane H2 including the rotation axes of the front wheel WF and a rear wheel WR or above the vicinity of a part below the imaginary plane H2.
