To provide a continuously variable transmission for a bicycle capable of rapidly changing speed even in the case of a large change of a variable speed ratio while attaining miniaturization and weight reduction of a support member which constitutes a variable speed operating mechanism for changing the variable speed ratio steplessly, and furthermore attaining miniaturization and weight reduction of the continuously variable transmission.
This continuously variable transmission T for the bicycle is provided with a variable speed mechanism M3 having link units U1-U4 for converting the rotation of an input shaft 15 driven by a crankshaft 12, into swinging motion; a one-way clutch 36 for converting the swinging motion into the rotation of an output shaft 16; and a variable speed operating mechanism M4 having a variable speed operating link 54 pivoted to the link units U1-U4 and a pivot 53 to change the rotating speed of the output shaft 16 steplessly by swinging the pivot 53 around a center shaft 52 together with the support member 51 by operating force transmitted through a transmission mechanism. The transmission mechanism has a link mechanism including a link 62 pivoted to the pivot, and the operating force is transmitted to the pivot 53 through the link mechanism.
