To improve work efficiency by making it possible to dispose a hydraulic pump and motors 29 and 30 separately at desired positions in a machine body of a work machine or the like using conventional ones for the hydraulic pump 29 and the motor 30 so as to freely secure necessary work speed ranges.
This continuously variable transmission is provided with a variable displacement type hydraulic pump 29 that is rotated by driving force from an engine 2, and the hydraulic motor 30 to accelerate/decelerate rotation of an output shaft 47 by hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic pump 29. A pump plunger block part 33 and a motor plunger block part 44 are provided to synchronously rotate an input shaft 36 of the hydraulic pump 29 and an output shaft 47 of the hydraulic motor 30 when a swash plate 31 of the hydraulic pump 29 is in a neutral state, and accelerate or decelerate rotation of the output shaft 47 of the hydraulic motor 30 in proportion to an angle of the swash plate when the swash plate 31 is not neutral.
