Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contraceptive preparation scarcely causing side effects.
SOLUTION: This contraceptive preparation comprises a group of 20-35 consecutive daily unit doses wherein estrogen(ES)-dominant phases and progestin(PR)-dominant phases are alternately cycled. Each of the phases comprises 2-4 consecutive daily unit doses. The daily unit dose of the ES-dominant phase contains (i) a substance exhibiting ES-activity in a certain amount, or (ii) the substance exhibiting ES-activity in a certain amount and a substance exhibiting PR-activity in a certain amount, and the daily unit dose of the PR-dominant phase contains a substance exhibiting ES-activity in a certain amount and a substance exhibiting PR-activity in a certain amount. Therein, the amount of the substance exhibiting ES-activity per unit dose exhibits the ES-activity equivalent to that of about 0.02 mg to about 0.05 mg of 17α-ethynylestradiol, and the amount of the substance exhibiting PR-activity per unit dose exhibits the PR-activity equivalent to that of 0 mg to about 1 mg of norethindorone.
