Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a halogenated arom. contrast medium compsn. in a high yield. CONSTITUTION: This contrast medium compsn. is an iodine-contg. contrast medium compsn. contg. a medicinally acceptable liq. blend and/or one or more kinds of subsidiary materials. It is produced by a method of producing chlorinated, brominated, radioactive-brominated, iodinated and/or radioactive-iodinated arom. (hetero) compds. optionally contg. one or more additional substituents by reacting halogenated or diazonium-substd. compds. corresponding to the arom. (hetero) compds. with a water-soluble chloride, bromide, radioactive bromide, iodide or radioactive iodide in the presence of a water-soluble acid as a catalyst, Cu ions and one or more kinds of reducing agents stable in an acidic medium. The amt. of the reducing agents exceeds that of the catalyst.
