Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle which includes an engine and a motor (a motor-generator and the like) and enables selection of a regenerative mode or a free-run mode when an accelerator is not stepped on, and in which the selection of the modes can be appropriately performed, and thus fuel consumption is reduced.SOLUTION: A control apparatus estimates a power consumption amount of a battery (a consumed SOC amount) consumed until reaching a regeneration-predicted section that is predicted for a hybrid vehicle to travel in a regenerative mode on the basis of at least map information (S101). When it is determined that the SOC of the battery is decreased to a lower-limit amount requiring forcible charging before the vehicle reaches the regeneration-predicted section (S103 → S104), the regenerative mode is selected. On the other hand, when it is determined that the vehicle reaches the regeneration-predicted section before the SOC is decreased to the lower-limit amount (S103 → S105), a free-run mode is selected.
