To make a vehicle to be decelerated as required by a driver when a shift lever is operated.
An ECU executes a program including a step (S100) of setting a targeted deceleration of an operating vehicle based on the amount of operation of a brake pedal, a step (S120) of controlling a brake apparatus so that a deceleration caused by damping force from the brake apparatus becomes the targeted deceleration, a step (S160) of controlling a transmission gear ratio of a belt type continuously variable transmission mechanism so that the braking force from a power train, i.e. the deceleration caused by an engine brake becomes the targeted deceleration, and a step (S170) of controlling the brake apparatus so that the deceleration caused by the brake apparatus increases gradually.
