Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sense of incompatibility to be given to a driver under a manual mode of an automatic transmission by operating an engine brake in an automatic down-shift control.
SOLUTION: Under a manual mode, vehicle speed conditions (V1ST, V2ND, V3RD) for performing an automatic down-shift operation are compared with an actual vehicle speed VSP (S1, S3, S6). Then, in the case that a target shift stage NGP which becomes a down-shift is set on the basis of a result of comparison (S2, S5, S8), an over-run clutch which is a fastening element for the engine brake in the transmission is forcedly released (S9) so as to prevent the engine brake from being operated.
