PURPOSE: To facilitate the positional adjustment and to fix a harness so as to prevent breakage of a wire by attaching a lock lever and an electromagnetic driver in one unit body to a shift bracket which is attached to a steering column.

CONSTITUTION: A control device S for an automatic transmission incorporates, at least, a control tube 30, a control lever 40 swingable in the same direction as that of the axis of the control tube 30, and a compression rod 50 movably inserted in the control tube 30. In this arrangement, a selector 60 is provided on the side of the rod 50 remote from the control lever in order to hold the latter at a shift position. Further, a shift member 70 having a guide groove 73a for the selector is provided on the side of the tube 30 remote from the control lever. Further, a lock lever 120 is engaged with the selector 60 in order to lock the control lever 40 at a parking position. Further, an electromagnetic driver 130 is energized in association with a braking manipulation so as to move the lock lever 120 to a release position.
