To provide a control device for controlling a belt type continuously variable transmission by accurately detecting the accelerating intent of a driver and setting an optimum value for shifting hydraulic pressure accordingly.
The control device for the belt type continuously variable transmission accurately detects the accelerating intent of the driver and optimizes the shifting hydraulic pressure to control the shift of the transmission according to the accelerating intent. When there is the accelerating intent, if high torque is input from a power source to the transmission, hydraulic pressure (V-belt clamping force of a pulley) is produced with no slippage between the V-belt and the pulley. When there is no accelerating intent, the hydraulic pressure is lowered to reduce the V-belt clamping force of the pulley so that no slippage occurs between the belt and the pulley, thus preventing the lowering of fuel efficiency.
