Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently utilize the energy of an automobile. SOLUTION: When an engine 46 that is automatically stopped when predetermined stopping conditions are met is automatically started by a generator-motor 54 because the predeters starting conditions are met, the voltage V of the generator-motor 54 is gradually increased during a period from the time immediately after the automatic start to the time when a specified time has passed. Immediately after a large discharging current flows from a high-voltage battery 58 by start of the engine 46, the high-voltage battery 58 is apt to being charged. If the voltage of the generator-motor 54 is fixed at a specified value, therefore, a large charging current flows to the high-voltage battery 58, and is then abruptly charged. The abrupt charging of the high-voltage battery 58 is avoided by gradually increasing the voltage of the generator-motor 54 to the specified level. As a result, a large charging current is obtained during regenerative braking, and the energy efficiency of the automobile is enhanced.
