To smoothly switch a combustion mode and to solve a problem on the deterioration of emission occurring in switching the mode.
An engine 10 is composed of a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine, and switched between a homogeneous burning operation injecting the fuel in an intake stroke for homogeneously burning the same, and a stratification burning operation injecting the fuel in a compression stroke for stratificationally burning the same. An ECU 50 determines the necessity or unnecessity of the switching of the combustion mode on the basis of the operating state, and reflects the ISC learning on the switched mode on the operation of requested torque for controlling the throttle before actually switching the combustion mode. Further the ISC learning on the switched mode is reflected on the operation of requested torque for controlling the ignition/injection, in actually switching the combustion mode.
