Abstract:

To provide a control device for an electric vehicle capable of detecting the presence of a contactor and a failure in a contactor coil driving transistor.

A low voltage is applied to a collector of the transistor 15 for driving the MS contactor coil 13 to check the collector output voltage of the transistor. The collector output voltage is checked which is generated by applying the voltage from a battery 1 supplying a current to the coil 13 to the collector of the transistor 15 through the coil. By combining these two types of collector output voltages, it is checked whether the transistor 15 is damaged and the MS collector 7 is not fitted or the MS contactor coil 13 is broken.
