PURPOSE: To improve the accelerating ability in an engine having plural cylinders grouped into two groups, and provided with a turbosupercharger for each group by fully opening an untake selector valve provided in the down stream of a compressor of the second supercharger when the engine is accelerated from a low load in a low intake air quantity region.
CONSTITUTION: In a six-cylinder engine 1 where cylinders are grouped into two groups in which ignition orders are not adjacent to each other, first, second turbosuperchargers 7, 8 are provided to be connected in parallel. In order to switch the engine to single operation of the first supercharger 7 only in a low intake air quantity region, or to double operation of two superchargers 7, 8 in a high intake air quantity region, an exhaust selector valve 17 is provided in an exhaust passage 20b in the downstream of a turbine 8a of the second supercharger 8, and an intake selector valve 18 is provided in an intake passage 14b in the downstream of a compressor 8b of the second supercharger 8. The intake selector valve 18 is controlled to be opened when the engine is judged to be operated in a two-supercharger operation region, and when the engine is judged to be operated in one supercharger operating region and in a low load region.
