Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cooling loss in a wide load region.SOLUTION: A control device for an engine includes a fuel injection device 21 for injecting fuel into each combustion chamber 6, and a water injection device 22 for injecting supercritical or subcritical water toward a crown surface 5a of a piston 5. In a low load region A1 where an engine load is lower than a preset reference load Tq1, fuel is injected into the combustion chamber 6 at its center portion so that an air layer is formed on an outer peripheral portion of the combustion chamber 6, and in a high load region A1 where the engine load is not lower than the reference load Tq1, the supercritical or subcritical water is injected from the water injection device 22 toward the crown surface 5a of the piston 5 in a period from the second half of a compression stroke to the first half of an expansion stroke, namely, from when the fuel injection device 21 finishes fuel injection to when mixture of the fuel and air is ignited.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
