To reduce a deceleration shock at a speed change even in a state that the torque control of an electric generator is impossible, and to prevent the deterioration of a battery.
This hybrid vehicle comprises: an internal combustion engine; a speed change mechanism which can speed-changes the rotation of a drive shaft connected to wheels; a clutch which can block the power transmission of the internal combustion engine to the drive wheel side when the speed change mechanism is changed in speed; the electric generator which can generate power by an electromotive force by receiving regeneration torque from the drive wheel, and can impart drive torque to the drive wheel when the speed change mechanism is at least changed in speed; and the battery which can be charged and discharged between the electric generator and itself. The control device of the hybrid vehicle comprises a suppression means which suppress the generation of the electromotive force when the speed change mechanism is changed in speed in the case that there are prescribed kinds of abnormalities that the drive torque is impossible to be controlled while the power can be generated by the electromotive force.
