Abstract:
To estimate clogging of an exhaust purification catalyst caused by fixation of manganese oxide by a technique suitable for a hybrid electric vehicle and suppress the clogging of the exhaust purification catalyst while suppressing fuel efficiency of an internal combustion engine from deteriorating.SOLUTION: A control device of a hybrid electric vehicle is applied to a hybrid electric vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine including an exhaust purification catalyst and an electric motor. The control device executes motor-assist control by which the electric motor assists engine output of the internal combustion engine when the engine output decreases. Further the control device controls the internal combustion engine so that intake airflow increases, when a frequency at which the motor-assist control is executed is higher in comparison with an initial state where integrated travelling distances of the hybrid electric vehicle are less than a threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
