Abstract:

To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of stably, certainly and early raising temperature and activating a catalytic device regardless of the dispersion of the action characteristic of a flow control valve when an intake air amount is increased at the time of idling operation after the internal combustion engine is started.

Date of a quantity of heat showing a quantity of heat applied to a catalytic device 3 by exhaust gas generated by an internal combustion engine 1 is detected per control cycle or obtained by estimation, the command value of the opening of a flow control valve such as a throttle valve is corrected by feedback control so as to converge to a desired value a value of the obtained data of the quantity of heat, and the opening of the flow control valve is operated according to the corrected command value. For example, the integrated value of the intake air amount of the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine 1 is used as the data of the quantity of heat.
