Abstract:

To prevent vapor overflowing from a canister without causing hunting on control about a control device for an internal combustion engine having the function of purging evaporated fuel.

Purge conditions are set (Steps 128-138). An amount subtracting the fuel purged from an amount of the fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine is assumed us a fuel injection quantity supplied from a fuel injection valve. A limit purge rate PGRLMT is determined (Step 132) so that the fuel injection quantity becomes much larger than the minimum fuel injection quantity which the fuel injection valve can maintain desired accuracy and inject fuel. When the purge rate (tPGR) exceeds the PGRLMT, the purge condition at that time is stared as a limit purge condition (Step 146-152). When an air-fuel ratio is lager than a prescribed rich determination value (Step 156), the purging is continued on the limit purge condition (Step 158-164).
