Abstract:

To solve such a problem that it is difficult to diagnose existence of abnormality of energization beforehand in a normally open type fuel-cut solenoid valve communicating and shutting off a flow path of fuel between a float chamber and a main nozzle of a carburetor provided in an intake air passage of an internal combustion engine.

Current flows from a battery 50 to a solenoid SL when a high-side switch 52 is turned on, and the fuel-cut solenoid valve is closed. In abnormality diagnosis, energization operation is done by using reference power source 72 of which voltage is lower than that of the battery 50. Output of a window comparator comprising comparators 60, 62 becomes logical "L" when an electrical path between a connector 54 and the solenoid SL is disconnected or short to ground, and the output becomes logical "H" when the path is normal.
