This control device 1 of the internal combustion engine has an intake passage (204 and 206) for introducing intake air to a cylinder, an intake control valve 224 arranged in the intake passage and capable of generating pulsation of a flow of the intake air in response to an opening-closing state, an opening changing means 101 for changing opening of the intake control valve, an output means 100 for outputting an opening-closing indication signal to the intake control valve so as to open or close the valve, a specifying means (such as 100 and 206s) for specifying the possibility of causing opening-closing abnormality of the intake control valve or causing the opening-closing abnormality, and a control means 100 for controlling the opening changing means so as to set the opening of the intake control valve in predetermined opening in addition to controlling the output means so as to output the opening-closing indication signal in the predetermined timing when the occurrence or the occurrence possibility is specified.
