To prevent cooling of a catalyst caused by a working medium in motoring, while avoiding the occurrence of a resonance phenomenon, when restarting an engine from an idle stop.
This control device includes the exhaust emission control catalyst 17 interposed in an exhaust passage 7, a driving means 30 for forcibly rotating a crankshaft when starting an engine, and an automatic stopping-starting means 20 for restarting the engine 1 when a predetermined idle stop releasing condition is achieved, after performing the idle stop for automatically stopping the engine 1 when a predetermined idle stop permission condition is achieved. The automatic stopping-starting means 20 restarts the engine 1 by starting fuel injection after increasing an engine speed by a driving means 30 up to a predetermined engine speed lower than a rotating area of generating mount resonance of the engine 1 and a vehicle when restarting the engine from the idle stop.
